about

My friend Gene died 16 years ago. I didn't touch the grief until this past year. This is a telling of his funeral and how much we all loved him, and how lost I think we all felt with his passing.

lyrics

I took the grief and I bottled it up
til it turned vinegar inside the cup
feelings denied made a bitter wine
and I still drink too much sometimes

Dig will you deeply now in the grave
gold cross tied on the last gift that I gave
I held your father there as he cried
all your best friends by your side

oh now it comes close
oh now it is done
we say goodbye and we all go home
oh now it comes close
oh now it is done
we say goodbye with emptier hearts

now you have ended, where do we start?

Is it harder to wonder...to live how and why...
is it harder to feel or to drink and deny

about

Leaving the Tracks Chicago, Illinois

These are demos for an ongoing project. Kerry Anne Pritchard is a hobo heart, California grown, born to roam.
When hobos traveled, they'd leave symbols & signs for others to find, to help, warn, encourage.
This project /band, Leaving the Tracks, is named for a sign meaning "Leaving railroad for highway or cross country." Songs explore grief, hope, leaving the known in search of something more.
